This is the first I have heard of the Significant Investor Visa, however, it sounds like it is starting to gain traction post the election. In short, the SIV scheme allows migrants who invest $5 million in complying assets to obtain residency. It sounds like an interesting opportunity for wealth & fund managers to attract new clients + inflows although is there something to be said about paying your way into Australia? Estimates suggest 50 SIV's have been approved translating to inflows of $250 million. If the run rate is sustained, as many as 200 applicants and $1 billion could flow into the -country by the end of the year. (VIEW LINK)
