Walmart's part-time hiring spree reflects the state of the economy. All around the United States, Walmart added new workers to its stores. However, most of these workers were part-time and had fewer hours and benefits than full-time staff. This is a pretty good representation of America's economy: things are getting better and businesses need more workers, but companies aren't optimistic enough to make major investments.
