Why are markets so choppy intraday at the moment? David Fuller, Global Strategist of FT Money in the UK says there are four key reasons: first, institutional investors are wary because many US shares are trading at higher valuations following 2013's outstanding gains. Second, there is a huge amount of liquidity sloshing around in the financial system. Third, high-frequency trading (HFT) is responsible for most of the volume and finally, QE tapering is fully underway.
