Why this bull is bearish about the year ahead
Markets always have a way of surprising.
The upside down reality of the past 12-18 months has shown why.
As Matt Williams from Airlie Funds Management noted at Livewire Live 2023:
"If someone 12 months ago said we're in the face of 12 interest rate hikes in a row, and that the market would be up double digits for the twelve months, you would've said they're mad."
"And that shows how hard it is to pick markets."
In this clip, Williams looks back at the market turbulence of the past year, and offers a sobering account of the outlook over the year ahead.
While he's bearish in the short term, he remains bullish on markets over the long-term.
"We know which way the market goes over time, but over 6-12 months things are looking a little bit tougher."
