PortfolioDirect
Zimplats Holdings, Botswana Metals, Blackham Resources and Chesser Resources - the four PortfolioDirect companies rated last week - must each get over a unique hurdle to realise its latent value. Zimplats is a well established and proven platinum producer but faces an ongoing discount for operating in Zimbabwe. Botswana Metals has unusually strong funding and development certainty but will have to give up a majority of its nickel property to its joint venture partner and nearby smelter owner to fulfill its development objectives. Chesser Resources shareholders must decide shortly if a bid for its Turkish gold project is better than retaining the future development. Blackham Resources directors had given up control of the company to Joseph Gutnick in exchange for financial certainty but only got a broken promise. In each case, the value proposition sitting behind these conditions is assessed within the PortfolioDirect framework.
