Consolidated Zinc has confirmed a high grade footwall ore position at the former Los Plomosos zinc mine in the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. The company reported three drill intersections each with over 4 metres of 18-30% zinc within the Tres Amigos zone, a historically mined horizon 150 metres above the current intersections. Mineralisation is visually distinct. The prospect is in a region with an active industry centred on the operation of small scale mines. Buxton Resources had excited interest in August with an 8 metre intersection grading 3.0% nickel and 1.9% copper in a mineralised mafic body northeast of Derby drawing comparisons with the rocks of the Savannah mine operated by Panoramic Resources. Follow-up drilling has reported few intersections, constraining the continuity of the target and the likely scale of any sulphide accumulation. The Talisman/Sandfire Monty discovery has triggered a reappraisal of the exploration potential of the Doolgunna region in WA. Enterprise Metals is undertaking an electromagnetic survey over an exploration target in its Doolgunna tenement consistent with the Monty prospect. Results are expected in late November.
