Altair Asset Management's 3 primary investment themes have been in place for well over 18 months. They are shaped by a well-credentialed investment committee including names such as ex Morgan Stanley strategist Gerard Minack and Hunter Hall co-founder, Philip Parker. Investing themes during this period have been low interest rates, depreciation of the AUD against the USD and socio-economic trends like the emerging consumer in Asia. When it comes to the investments resulting from these thematics, Parker says they have largely run their course and they are trimming exposures. So what is on the horizon in terms of trends? Parker says they are closely watching inflation. He believes the RBA has underestimated the pace at which inflation will emerge in the domestic economy. Whilst this poses a disruptive threat - it also presents an opportunity for companies to start raising prices for their goods and services. Exclusive here:
