Australian shares are tipped to open higher, with the SPI up 22 points to 5129.00. The Australian dollar is at US90.25c, compared with Friday's local close of US90.10c. US shares, on the other hand, rallied on Friday following the release of weak new-home sales data that had some placing bets the Federal Reserve will consider holding off tapering its bond purchases.
