Platypus: We have just one exposure in the energy sector. Don Williams, CIO of Platypus Asset Management, believes whilst the commodities companies clearly remains the most challenged on the ASX (see chart) the sector is now close to bottoming. The oil price might rally for a while and then go back down. In terms of Australian companies the bulk of that is now definitely in the price and the worst has probably past. Williams says the divergent performance across sectors will continue to favour stock pickers and says that the natural resources sectors present better opportunities than it has for several years. That is simply a function of share prices being smashed. Whilst underweight the sector Williams has identified an opportunity in the energy space. We have a single name which is Oil Search. It has good growth prospects and is a potential corporate target depending on where the share price is.
