The mining boom simply isn't over, says BT Financial Group's Chief Economist, Chris Caton. While the US clamours to recover from a harsh winter, Australia boasts a strong start to the year - and the difference boils down to exports. Amid Hilary Clinton's criticism Australia has become too dependent on China for trade, claims that the minor downturn in Australia's growth signals the end of the mining boom begin to resurface. The mining capex boom may be over, the commodity price boom may be over, but the export growth story is still untouched, argues Chris. Because China are a bigger export market for us now, 7% growth is actually no worse than the 10% growth of a few years ago...
