Trends in the ETF market

Stockspot has just released their annual ETF report and if you follow ETFs it’s an interesting read. “The ETF market in Australia grew from $17.8 billion to $21.3 billion over the past year. This represents an increase in funds under management (FUM) of 20% and follows 66% growth last year.” The report takes a look at 128 ETPs, including their fees, performance, size and trading activity. The report also looks at recent ETF market trends including the continued growth in international ETFs, the wide gap between the performance of different sectors, the demand for defensive ETFs, and the disappointing performance of alternative index ETFs.
