Which macro themes is Gerard Minack currently focused on? From a macro perspective the investment team at Altair Asset Management have some very well credentialed names to assist in their thinking. Gerard Minack and Stephen Roberts both sit on the investment committee and provide top down thinking. The macro view along with stock selection goes into the final portfolio construction process for Altair. We asked Philip Parker, CEO of Altair, which themes they have been following and importantly the ones that shape their forward looking strategy. The two themes they are looking at are 1) Companies exposed to growth out of Asia 2) Australian companies how generate large amounts of earnings from offshore. Interestingly, they are less concerned about the outlook for China than many other market participants. Parker says their call of 8% GDP gowth in China is starting to look reasonable.
