Competition will force incumbents to start investing
Investor demand has seen many large Australian businesses move into a 'harvesting' phase when it comes to distributing their earnings as dividends. Justin Braitling, CIO of Watermark Funds, says this has seen what is an already mature market even more mature. The trend is unsustainable and Braitling believes that as new competitors come into the market the incumbents will be forced to start investing for growth or face the significant risk of their earnings streams being eroded as they loose margin and market share.
