I recently wrote about the Board Skills Matrix and why it's critical for shareholders to work with Boards to develop the skills matrix on the specific skills necessary to oversee company strategy. (VIEW LINK) Domino's Pizza Enterprises Limited has invested in digital products (Live Pizza Tracker for both Android and iOS watches), as well as 4-click ordering (5-click in NZ) and payment tokenisation, plus Touch ID for iPhone/iPad App and these have increased customer frequency. With over 40 digital products in the FY2016 pipeline, the current Board Skills Matrix does not specifically include digital/IT skills in the mix. Rather than simply viewing the Board Skills Matrix as another corporate governance compliance hurdle to meet, it should be viewed as a useful tool to direct future NED recruitment...and succession planning.
