Share Market Carnage: Life Ain't Fair

Investors who believe this month's sudden carnage and turmoil is simply occurring because US equity markets needed a long overdue correction are advised to take a cold shower and then re-think. It may not be readily apparent in economic indicators or fundamental valuations, but there's obviously a whole lot more going on than your average sideline market commentator is at present willing to contemplate. As legendary hedge fund strategist Doug Kass puts it: the only certainty is the lack of certainty. This is way too early to roll out the Buffett line about being greedy when others are fearful. The reset we are witnessing is a process that is not going to be done with quickly. Better be prepared for different times ahead. And yes, it is not fair. Such is life (and financial markets).
