The ASX miner topping the list of most-shorted stocks
Stretched valuations and an uncertain macro environment may be music to the ears of short sellers looking to take advantage of price dislocations, but for the time being, there's one stock attracting much of the attention.
Here's what's changed on the shorting side of things over the last week.
As always, this data is on a four-day delay, and shows current short interest as of 26 May 2026.
The most-shorted ASX stocks
Lotus Resources (ASX: LOT) again tops the list of the most-shorted ASX stocks, with total short interest now above 19%.
As you can see in the chart below, LOT has now pulled away from the rest of the pack in terms of short interest in the last month.
The uranium miner has become a prime target for short sellers in recent weeks, with the obvious catalyst being a 30 April announcement in which the company retracted previous production and recovery guidance at its Kayelekera site.
The LOT share price has been in decline since the start of March, but the April announcement initiated a large selloff which has left the stock down 70% in 2026, despite uranium prices remaining steady.
The rest of the top 10 remain fairly stable, with familiar names like Domino's (ASX: DMP), Telix Pharmaceuticals (ASX: TLX) and Boss Energy (ASX: BOE) still featuring high on the list.
A small drop in short interest has seen Droneshield (ASX: DRO) drop out of the top 10.
Short sellers are also getting out of Guzman y Gomez (ASX: GYG), which rallied as much as 20% on 22 May after the company announced it was exiting the US market.
The stocks seeing more short interest
Capstone Copper Corp (ASX: CSC) tops the list of companies seeing the biggest uptick in short interest, though overall short interest is still low at 2.83%.
The copper miner has rebounded well from its March lows and is looking to surpass its January record high price.
As mentioned above, Lotus Resources also figures high on the list, as does Lendlease Group (ASX: LLC), which has been another popular target for short sellers and is now down 50% in 2026.
The same can be said for Bapcor (ASX: BAP), which is down more than 90% this year, and has snuck into the top 10 most-shorted stocks list.
