The future of energy is almost here

The Telegraph’s (UK) business editor, Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, has claimed the “Holy Grail of energy policy is in sight” in his latest article. “The world's next energy revolution is probably no more than five or ten years away.” Energy storage has the potential to transform power generations and grid infrastructure around the world, but to date, commercially viable options have not been available. However, a massive push globally to develop technologies has begun to show progress. Currently, the US Energy Department is funding 75 projects in the area, utilising the skills of engineers at a range of elite schools. Some of these projects are claiming to cut storage costs by 80pc to 90pc. US Energy Secretary, Ernest Moniz, says he expects the US grid to be "decarbonised" by 2050.
