The Bear Market we need to have?
Loose monetary policy from central banks has steadily projected asset prices higher since 2009. However, with the Fed starting to tighten monetary policy the cool winds of change have sent chills through equity markets. Geoff Wilson, Chairman of Wilson Asset Management, says the market needs to endure tighter monetary conditions and hopes that The Fed will continue along a tightening path. “We’re in the mature stages of a Bull Market. It’s the third longest running Bull Market since the early thirties… The Australian market topped last April, so I hope we do go into a Bear Market and that the Bear Market takes its’ course. If they pump more money into the system, they are just again kicking the can down the road.” In this Livewire thematic discussion Matthew Kidman asks Geoff Wilson and Ben Clark to share their approach to investing in 2016 and where they are looking for opportunities.
